Treatment Allocation and Data Collection

Insight provides a full range of services for treatment allocation, and the collection of data for health research.

Health research often involves administering different treatments to different patients, and observing the subsequent levels of benefit and adverse effects. Such studies often involve double-blinding where both the patients and clinical team (that are interacting with the patients) are blinded as to which treatment each patient receives. Insight can design and manage the treatment allocation scheme, and can also work with the clinical team so that they are blinded to the treatment allocations.

There are numerous ways in which data will enter a project including:

  • Collection of medical data - this pertains to biological measurements and specimens obtained throughout the health study. This often involves the use of appropriate medical devices and the use of staff who are qualified to obtain these measurements and specimens. Insight actively works with the clinical team that has access to such devices and staff, and we also have our own set of qualified medical researchers that we engage on a regular basis.

  • Collection of survey data – this includes surveys conducted face-to-face, by telephone, and online. Insight can assist with the purchase and setup for the related technology (hardware and software), with training a team of interviews, with conducting online surveys, and with monitoring data as it is received.

  • Collation of existing datasets – datasets might have already been collected by a range of different stakeholders. Insight can assist with seeking approval for the use of different datasets, with IT solutions for data transfer, and for checking data quality as data is received.

There is also an exceedingly broad variety of data types each with their own methodologies for manipulation and processing. These include:

  • Static or streaming data – is data being received as a once-off transaction, or is there a continuous stream of data being received?

  • Various data types – including numeric, text, images, and video

  • Qualitative data – such as text data collected in interviews and focus groups.

The Insight team consists of highly talented medical researchers and IT professionals.
